Introducing Exponare
MapInfo ExponareTM is an out-of-the-box solution developed on MapInfo’s.NET platform. It Combines the power of MapInfo’s power location based technology with the flexibility of the Microsoft.NET framework and Web Services.

Exponare is an integrated suite of applications that allows users to connect to the many sources of an organisation’s corporate data, both spatial and non-spatial. With a strong emphasis on integration, centralised management and ease of use, Exponare allows users to leverage their corporate information resource as never time involved in implementation.

Exponare is designed to enable local government users to discover the full extent of their information resource and to deliver the high quality of service demanded by today’s communities.

The Exponare product suite consist of a number of modules which are designed to work seamlessly with each other and act as an integrated suite. Sharing a common code base, each of the modules has a consistent look and feel and are set up with a common configuration tool. The first two modules to be released are Enquiry and Public.

Custom Development
The Developer’s Edition enables Council to undertake custom development of Exponare. The Developer’s Edition provides developers with :

• The ability to add new features to the server, Enquiry and Public;
• The ability to integrate other MapInfo solutions such as MapMarker or Routing J Server
• A roadmap for using web services to embed spatial functionality into other Council applications
• The ability to develop advanced application link-outs

The Developer’s Edition is also compatible with all the .NET languages. The .NET languages are used and accepted globally thereby giving Councils great scope in choosing from a wide range of developers. It also provides the developer with an extensive global library of .NET applications that can be integrated directly into Exponare, thereby saving expensive development time in reinventing existing functionality.

The Exponare Architecture
The Exponare Architecture outlines how the Exponare Enquiry and Public modules would interact with a Council’s existing infrastructure. The Exponare environment is contructed around a central server, this server acts as link to the corporate information. Configuration tools enable the administrator to set up the system and manage the user access to the appropriate data stores, queries and functionality. The administrator has the flexibility to provide direct access via data binds, or utilise the application link-out facility to invoke a separate application. Web Services can also be used to embed server-based spatial functionality into other council applications. Whether the clients are within or outside the firewall, Exponare leverages the power of location by incorporating the corporate insfrastructure.
